Amazon India’s Great Indian Festival sale to start from September 23

Ecommerce major Amazon India has announced that its annual Great Indian Festival sale will go live on September 23. The announcement comes a day after the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council announced sweeping reforms in the indirect tax regime.

The annual sale will begin a day after the revised GST rates take effect on September 22, aiming to simplify the tax structure.

The GST rate changes will impact a wide range of goods and services, including footwear priced at Rs 2,500 or less, handbags, chocolates, namkeens, and more. Many everyday food items will see a tax reduction from 18% to 5%.

Amazon India is yet to release more details about the sale, but it will start a day early for its Prime members. The website also shows deals including ‘8 PM deals’, smartphone exchange deals and more.

Rival Flipkart has also updated its website and app to announce its upcoming, month-long Big Billion Days sale. However, the Walmart-owned ecommerce platform didn't reveal any details on the dates aside from declaring that the sale is 'coming soon'.
