Niramai is a health-technology startup that uses machine intelligence to detect and diagnose breast cancer using simple thermographic images.

Its solution is low-cost, non-contact, noninvasive and radiation-free.

The devices are portable, helping women to be screened for breast cancer even in remote regions. The company, founded in 2016 by Geetha Manjunath and Nidhi Mathur, claims its method of breast cancer screening can detect tumours that are five times smaller than what could be detected through a clinical examination. This, it said, makes it possible to identify the spread of the disease earlier, improving survival rates.

Niramai raised $6 million in Series A funding last year from top investors including Dream Incubator and Beenext, along with participation from existing ones such as Flipkart cofounder Binny Bansal, pi Ventures, Axilor Ventures and Ankur Capital.
