Four Indian-origin executives in the spotlight as Anthropic files for IPO

Claude maker Anthropic’s top deck has four Indian-origin executives who have significant holdings in the AI giant about to go public.

Who’s who: The leadership includes chief financial officer Krishna Rao, chief technology officer Rahul Patil, Claude Code co-creator Sid Bidasaria, and Neil Buddy Shah, who chairs its Long-Term Benefit Trust (LTBT).

Rao’s holdings could be worth about $840 million to $1.12 billion at the expected $1.5-2 trillion valuation. This would put him in the league of SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen, whose shares were worth $1.22 billion at the company’s June 2026 IPO, and Nvidia CFO Colette Kress, whose net worth has touched $1.2 billion.

Tell me more:

  • Patil grew up in Bengaluru and joined Anthropic as chief technology officer in October 2025, after leading technology at payments company Stripe.
  • Bidasaria hails from Dehradun and is a co-creator and tech lead of Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI coding tool.
  • Shah chairs LTBT, which helps oversee its long-term mission and plays a role in board appointments. He earns $425,000 annually for his work with the trust, including $25,000 for serving as chair.

Other appointments: Indian-origin Novartis chief executive Vas Narasimhan joined Anthropic’s board in April 2026. The prospectus identifies him as a Class T director and a member of its compensation and safety-and-risk committees.

Tata Electronics’ Apple exports near Rs 1 lakh crore in FY26 as net loss widens

Tata Electronics

Tata Electronics, India’s largest home-grown contract manufacturer of iPhones, reported exports of nearly Rs 1 lakh crore in FY26, up over 29% from a year earlier, led by demand from the US, Taiwan and Ireland, Apple’s European headquarters.

Export breakdown:

  • Three Tata Electronics entities together reported export revenues of Rs 99,128 crore in FY26, per the latest RoC filings. In FY25, they reported exports of Rs 76,953 crore.
  • The three entities reported exports of Rs 38,508 crore to the US in FY26, Rs 47,930 crore to Taiwan, and Rs 11,980 crore to Ireland.
  • Exports account for about 76% of the company’s reported production revenues.

Import dependence persists: The combined foreign exchange outgo of the three entities, at Rs 1,29,641 crore, was significantly higher than their forex earnings, indicating that Indian iPhone manufacturing still leans heavily on imported components.

A look inside: The export surge came alongside widening losses. The company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 1,611 crore in FY26 against Rs 69 crore in FY25, even as consolidated operating revenue rose 96% to Rs 1,29,902 crore.

Tata Electronics' consolidated domestic sales rose 46% to Rs 30,182 crore in FY26, per RoC filings.

Akash Ambani announces Jio’s next big mission after data: Bring AI, cloud & space connectivity to every Indian

Jio IPO
Ambanis at the Jio IPO listing ceremony

Jio is moving past data-led disruption and setting its sights on making artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and space-based connectivity available to every Indian, Jio Platforms managing director Akash Ambani said at the company’s blockbuster listing on the stock exchanges.

Jio IPO: The company listed at a 21.3% premium over its IPO price, with the Rs 30,200 crore issue fully subscribed within 95 minutes of launch — which Ambani called the fastest such response India has seen.

Democratising data: “In our first 10 years, we democratised data, bringing hundreds of millions into the digital world. In our next step, we want to democratise every technology that can transform lives: AI, cloud, connected devices, connectivity even from space, and digital services not yet imagined,” Ambani said.

Scale up: The company’s next phase will require it to maintain its scale advantage while expanding into more complex technology businesses. Ambani said Jio would need to be “world-class in our technology, service, execution, and standards.”

Amazon lays down AI usage guidelines for software engineers; here’s what it wants

Amazon has published an internal memo for its software development engineers (SDEs) with revised guidelines, urging them to use AI to solve customer problems and reconnect with users.

Close to the customer: Terk Terkowitz, vice-president and engineer at Worldwide Amazon Stores, said in a memo to employees that Amazon has traditionally kept engineering guidelines technology-agnostic. Even cloud computing, microservices, and serverless technology did not alter the fundamental definition of the role but AI, it said, is changing software engineering far faster.

Verbatim: “For SDMs (software development managers), we also recommend spending time making sure you’re close to your customers and business, and you’re helping the ICs (Individual Customers) in your organization to do the same,” Terkowitz noted.

No to ‘tokenmaxxing’: The memo explicitly discouraged “tokenmaxxing”, assigning unnecessary tasks to AI agents simply to inflate token usage and appear productive.
