Point AI, formerly named Try ND Buy, an artificial intelligence (AI) services company for online commerce, has raised $5.3 million in a round led by Yali Capital, founder Nitin Vats told ET.

Lip-Bu Tan, CEO of Intel Corporation and chairman of Walden Catalyst and Tremis Capital, also participated in the round.

The company provides AI solutions to ecommerce marketplaces for both the backend and frontend of the website. For the sellers’ side, the services include image generation, video generation, and an AI assistant, among others. For the buyers’ side, its tech offerings include a virtual assistant and virtual try-on features.

“We have clients from 12 countries currently. Through this funding, we want to expand our presence further, refine the products we have already developed, and invest in research to stay ahead in the market,” said Vats. Point AI’s clients include Flipkart, Myntra, Japan’s Rakuten, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands. So far, the company has raised about $10 million.

In the next 12 months, Point AI will focus on expanding its client base in India and overseas.

The Bengaluru-based company has offices in Noida and Shanghai. It has around 130 employees across locations. With this funding, Point AI plans to expand its employee count as well, according to Vats.

“India’s deep-tech ecosystem is advancing steadily, and Point AI’s work in AI and computer vision represents a promising contribution backed by strong intellectual property,” said Lip-Bu Tan, chairman, Walden International, in a prepared statement.

Point AI’s funding comes at a time when online commerce is adopting the use of AI. In the past, several AI solutions for ecommerce startups have received funding from investors. In June, Flipkart cofounder Binny Bansal invested $20 million in ShopOS, a startup building an AI operating system for brands scaling ecommerce operations. In August, Singapore-based ecommerce technology startup Graas AI raised $9 million.
