PM Modi chairs roundtable with select startups ahead of India AI Impact Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a roundtable discussion with 12 shortlisted startups under the foundational model pillar of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a roundtable discussion with 12 shortlisted startups under the foundational model pillar of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

The meeting was attended by founders from Indian AI startups such as Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra, and Zenteiq.

According to the press release, the startups are targeting various sectors, including healthcare, research, and ecommerce, among others.


The summit is scheduled for next month to promote dialogue and discussion on leveraging artificial intelligence for innovation, startup growth, and support for local languages. Startups working on foundation models, multilingual large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and personalised content creation are being encouraged as well.

Addressing the founders, Modi emphasised the need to develop indigenous AI models that are ethical, unbiased, and ensure data protection.

Union minister for electronics and information technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and minister of state Jatin Prasada also attended the meeting.
