OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Ads in India on August 27 for the free and Go tiers. The ads will be for logged-in adult customers, the firm announced in a statement.

The company said that Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education subscriptions will remain ad-free. WPP and Omnicom will be OpenAI’s first agency partners for ChatGPT Ads in India, which is one of the largest markets for OpenAI.

“These agencies’ early involvement will support a strong local ecosystem and enable advertisers to make the most of ChatGPT’s conversational environment from day one, with more than 50 brands intending to go live with their advertisements on ChatGPT in the country this week,” the company said.

The model is non-exclusive, and OpenAI will continue to identify and work with other agencies. “The launch will be followed with self-serve access to ChatGPT Ads Manager in India on September 4, enabling businesses of all sizes to sign up and grow their business with daily budgets starting as low as Rs 725,” the statement said.

Dave Dugan, Vice President and Head of Global Ads Solutions, OpenAI, said in the statement that India is one of its most dynamic markets. “With ChatGPT Ads, businesses of every size can introduce themselves at relevant, high-context moments when decisions are beginning to take shape,” Dugan added.
