Zomato spins off online ordering app Zomato Order

Gurgaon based online restaurant guide Zomato has spun off its food ordering software into a separate application called Zomato Order, the company announced today.

Realizing that using Zomato to search for a place to eat and ordering in a meal are two separate use cases, the Sequioa Capital backed platform has decided to build a separate focused app for the latter..

"Having two separate apps allows us to build lightweight apps that get straight to solving the problems you face. Actions that are core to the app experience can be given priority of position," the seven-year-old company, which launched online ordering in 1000 restaurants across Delhi last month, wrote in a blog post.

According to the announcement. The Zomato and Zomato order apps are linked to one another, so that if users see a restaurant they want to order from at the former, a tap would take them straight to the latter. Moreover, all apps in the Zomato portfolio can be downloaded in one bundle from the App Store for iOS users.
