BENGALURU: Germany headquartered digital consumer lending platform Kreditech has received a licence from the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a non banking finance company here. Kreditech plans to approach the consumer credit market by assessing the credit worthiness of applicants solely by evaluating tehri alternate data sources.

The company will offer both direct consumer loans as well as partner with vendors to provide them lending as a service solution, so that they can design customised credit products.

“Currently, many NBFCs are focusing on the digital space. We, however, approach the market differently as our business model is based on an entirely digital end-to-end solution, right from origination to digital disbursement to collection. We are completely focused to ensure customers are given top priority and create a win-win proposition,” said Ashish Kohli, chief executive officer, Kreditech India operations.

Highlighting the market potential of $1 trillion in revenue for the next five year, Kreditech is looking at India as one of the most promising emerging markets.

“Our proprietary credit scoring technology can assess an applicant’s creditworthiness in seconds and with higher precision than traditional credit-bureau based systems can. That way, we are able to offer credit to people quicker and in a most efficient way,” said David Chan, CEO at Kreditech.
