BENGALURU: Amazon has roped in Mayank Jain, who was till recently a senior executive at rival Flipkart, where he was heading financial services for the company. He has joined Amazon’s payments team.

Jain had quit Flipkart in July last year, after over four years with the Bengaluru-based company. He worked with Bajaj Finance for a few months before moving to Amazon. Amazon India confirmed Jain’s appointment. “Mayank Jain has joined Amazon India and will focus on strategic new initiatives,” a company spokesperson said.

The company did not reveal Jain’s designation. At Flipkart, Jain was responsible for financial services such as credit modelling, operations and business development across seller financing, consumer lending and insurance. Jain’s LinkedIn profile says he launched Flipkart’s ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ programme.
