HYDERABAD: Tiger-Global backed news aggregator app InShorts is in talks to zero in on a steady revenue stream through sponsored content from consumer internet companies such as e-commerce portals, food delivery platforms, online travel agencies and others.

One of the heavily funded news apps in the world, InShorts has raised a total of USD 24 million in three rounds. In initial stages of partnering with various portals, InShorts has closed a partnership with e-commerce portal Flipkart which also counts Tiger-Global among is investors.

“We will be looking at a few tie-ups to close this month. The quality content will be based on data and insights collected across and users can choose to opt out of it. We have already started a dry run of the model,” said Azhar Iqubal, chief executive officer of InShorts.

The company had not zeroed in on a business model till recently. Over the past few months the 60-word news format app has introduced multiple products targeting personalization through My Feed and social sharing feature, TOSS.
