Many of our stressful thoughts and feelings are reactions to happenings of the outside world, whose harmful effects are bound to finally end up in our physical body. That's why many of us don't realise we are stressed until we 'feel it' physically. We also don't notice its origin in our thoughts, and even prior to that, in our intentions.
Because we have learned to believe that our body is all we are. So, we seek ways to relax our body believing we are relaxing our 'self'. And that's fine. It's true, if we relax our body, our mind will follow to some extent because we are using our mind to relax our body.
But, eventually, we notice that physical relaxation is not getting to the cause of our stress. It's just addressing the symptoms. Hence, there is huge variety of ways to deal with stress symptoms at physical level. Some of the most popular ways include walking, physical yog, gym, sport and music.
These all can 'relieve' many of the stress symptoms that build up in our body, but none can get into the cause within our mind, spirit or consciousness. Stress occurs not because of what happens to us but the way we react to it. Our mind gives rise to stressful thoughts. Rajyog meditation, science and art of consciousness training and transformation, helps with thoughts management.
