Life as a festival

You are born as a result of a decision made by the universe. Then you die, again, as the universe deems it to be. What happens between birth and death? The interval between the coming and going - from starting off as a bunch of nascent cells to disintegrating as atoms into the elements - is what we call life. For some, the period is short, and for others, it is long.

Life can be a drag, it could be mediocre, or it could be fun and meaningful, depending on the play of circumstances and your attitude. If you can cultivate inner strength and determination to not just survive but flourish in many ways, the effort could render your life festive, at least most of the time.

Life may not always be fun and festive; it is usually a mix of suffering, sadness, joy, fun, meaning, meaninglessness and desperation. Not everyone is blessed with the right recipe of circumstances, resources and relationships to live a 'happy' life. But no matter what, if you can create your very own recipe of positive attitude, gratitude, humour, acceptance, compassion, love, forgiveness, hope and a dose of selflessness, you can more or less be sure that your life will turn out to be a festival.

The decision to face challenges without losing hope or self-esteem will by no means be an easy one to execute consistently - but one can always try, for the prospect of joy is far more attractive than the option of being sad and dejected.
