In recent years, celebrations in our country have gone ostentatiously noisy be it a festival, social event, public concert or even a personal occasion.

One wonders why we are opting for annoying booms and noise blasts in the name of celebration. Certainly, ever-advancing technology is rapidly bringing to us latest celebratory tools but, the real worry is that a vast majority of us are attuning to them.

Why do we really need to raise the level of our joy to the deafening high decibels when even a soft voice of few decibels is enough to please human heart? Have we become immune and insensitive to the little sweet sounds around and within us. Attuning ourselves to the cacophony seems to be a clear reflection of the insufficiency, insecurity, vexation, angst and aggression that we hold within. 'Loudness is the armour of the insecure,' someone has rightly said.

We are growing thunderous because we are failing to regulate the disturbing high decibels within. Introspection and emotional regulation are what we truly need to undertake. Let us open our ears to the virtuous voices within, let us understand that a gentle whisper is enough to soothe our soul. Let's realise that a conscientious rational thought is adequate to empower us, simply practising a spiritual emotion such as forgiveness suffices.
