Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued a set of religious etiquette guidelines for visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
The guidance aims to preserve the spiritual atmosphere of one of Islam’s holiest sites and ensure visitors uphold respectful conduct during their visit, Gulf News reports.
The ministry’s advisory encourages visitors to follow specific practices based on prophetic traditions. Worshippers are asked to enter the mosque with their right foot and recite the traditional supplication for entering sacred spaces. Once inside, they are urged to lower their voices, remain calm, and avoid any behaviour that may disturb others in prayer or reflection.
Visitors passing the sacred chamber are encouraged to offer peaceful salutations to the Prophet Mohammad, as well as his companions Abu Bakr and Umar. Upon exiting the mosque, it is recommended to lead with the left foot while reciting the prescribed supplication for departure.
