Saudi Arabia gives confirmation on no refunds for cancelled exit and re-entry visas to the country

Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has confirmed that exit and re-entry visa fees are non-refundable, even if the visa is cancelled. This clarification was issued following a public inquiry as thousands of expatriates plan travel during the summer break, as per a report by Gulf News.

A resident recently asked if fees could be reclaimed after cancelling an exit and re-entry permit. In response, the Passports Department stated, “If the exit and re-entry visa is cancelled, the fees are non-refundable.”

According to the Gulf News report, under current visa rules, a single exit and re-entry visa costs 200 Saudi riyals and is valid for up to two months. An additional SAR 100 is charged for each extra month, provided it remains within the validity of the resident permit (iqama). For multiple exit and re-entry visas, the fee is 500 riyals for up to three months and 200 riyals per additional month.


Residents who are already outside the Kingdom and need to extend their visas will pay double. The extension fee for a single visa is 200 riyals per month, and 400 riyals per month for a multiple visa.

Jawazat added that all processes—including cancelling and renewing visas—can be completed through the Absher digital platform. To cancel an exit and re-entry visa, users must log in, go to “Services for Sponsors,” choose the individual concerned, and confirm the cancellation. However, even after cancellation, the fee remains non-refundable.

For extensions from outside Saudi Arabia, common for dependents and domestic workers, residents can use Absher to access “Worker Services” or “Family Member Services” and follow the steps for renewal. Sponsors and employers can use the Absher Business platform to extend visas for workers by navigating to “My Business Services” and then selecting “Visas.”
