UAE-based corporate executive Sudhir Shetty bags NRI of the Year award

DUBAI: A UAE-based corporate executive has been chosen for the NRI of the Year award for his success in leading his organisation as an employee.

A chartered accountant and a law graduate, Sudhir Shetty has been heading UAE Exchange, a global remittance and foreign exchange brand, as its Chief Operating Officer since 1991, his company said in a statement.

The first edition of the NRI of the Year Award has been instituted by ICICI Bank and Times Now.

From an organisation with four branches in the UAE, Shetty has led the entity to emerge as a global player with over 700 branches in 31 countries.

"Heading UAE Exchange has been an exciting journey of self discovery for me. The freedom and trust bestowed on me by its founders has empowered me to do a responsible job. Added to it, the efficient team of professionals, working with me, made the challenging role, easier," Shetty said.

An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Shetty has been instrumental in streamlining the remittance and foreign exchange segment in the UAE, in particular.
