IPL 2025 Auction: Glenn Maxwell sold for a shockingly low amount to Punjab Kings
Glenn Maxwell is back with Punjab Kings for IPL 2025 after a bidding war that saw Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad vying for the Australian all-rounder. Despite a lean 2024, Maxwell returns to the team he represented from 2014-2021, br...

Chennai Super Kings entered the bidding at Rs 2.80 crore before stepping aside. This will be the 36-year-old's second stint with PBKS after having played for the team from 2014-2021.
Maxwell has set a bidding war in the previous seasons where he has gone for over Rs 10 crore, but this was not the case this time.
Despite a lackluster 2024 season with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) — scoring just 52 runs in 10 games — Maxwell’s all-round abilities make him an intriguing prospect for franchises.
In his four seasons with RCB he amassed 1,266 runs and picked up 18 wickets, proving to be a valuable asset. Overall, he has scored more than 2,700 runs at a strike rate of 156 in IPL.
Nicknamed the "Big Show," Maxwell's unorthodox strokes, including reverse sweeps and switch hits, make him a middle-order disruptor who can dismantle bowling lineups. His versatility as a finisher and part-time spinner ensures his utility across all phases of a T20 game.
His recent 43 off 19 balls against Pakistan highlighted his ability to deliver under pressure.
