New Zealand restricted to 159 for 7

Electing to bat first, New Zealand were limited to 159 for seven in 20 overs. Several batters got starts but none could convert them into significant scores. Glenn Phillips scored 39, Tim Seifert made 35, Finn Allen contributed 29, and Mark Chapman added 15.

England’s spinners dominated the innings, claiming seven wickets collectively—the joint-most by England spinners in a T20 World Cup match. Will Jacks (2/23), Adil Rashid (2/28), and Rehan Ahmed (2/28) led the effort, while Liam Dawson also contributed with 1/32. Rachin Ravindra (3/19) was the standout bowler for New Zealand.

England chase sees multiple contributions

Chasing 160, England lost early wickets but recovered through key contributions from Tom Banton (33), Will Jacks (32 not out), Harry Brook (26), Sam Curran (24), and Rehan Ahmed (19 not out). A spectacular final overs display from Will Jacks and Rehan Ahmed, featuring multiple boundaries and sixes, guided England to a 4-wicket victory in 19.3 overs.
