Champions Trophy 2025 Points Table: Group B opens up as Australia and South Africa share points; Here are the possible scenarios

As the Champions Trophy 2025 enters the halfway stage, the teams continue their tussle to make it into the top-four to qualify for the semi final.

The tournament brings together the world’s top eight teams in Pakistan and Dubai for the coveted title. The event runs from February 19 to March 9. It marks the first time Pakistan hosts an ICC event in three decades, although some matches will be played in the United Arab Emirates after India refused to play in the neighbouring country, citing security reasons.



The eight teams have been divided into two groups of four. They will play in the round robin format, facing each team of their group. Every team will have three group matches and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinal. India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh have been placed in Group A, while Australia, England South Africa and Afghanistan are in Group B.

The most recent match played between Australia and South Africa on Wednesday, February 25, was abandoned due to rain. The two teams shared a point each, keeping group B wide open. South Africa sits at the top of the table in Group B with three points, and are followed by Australia, who also have three points. However, England and Afghanistan are yet to open their accounts.


The result has made the encounter between England and South Africa a virtual encounter. The loser of the match will be the third team to be eliminated from the tournament.

On Monday, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by five wickets to put the Black Caps and India into the semifinal, while Pakistan and Bangladesh have been knocked out of Champions Trophy 2025.
