Enforcement Directorate suspects Reddy was a front for six companies owned by Rao's son, Vivek, which were started between 2012 and 2016.

Income Tax department yesterday raided Rao's house in upscale Anna Nagar in Chennai. The raids are a part of investigation following the arrest of mining baron J. Shekhar Reddy.
The documents seized from Reddy are said to have a connection with Rao's son, Vivek Rao. Enforcement Directorate suspects Reddy was a front for six companies owned by Vivek which were started between 2012 and 2016. The raids are on at these companies which deal in logistics and real estate.

The raids on Chief Secretary Rao's house began at 5.30 in the morning on Wednesday. They were conducted simultaneously at 11 locations including homes of son Vivek in Thiruvanmiyur and some relatives in Chittoor in the neighboring Andhra Pradesh. Rao's office at the Chennai Secretariat was also raided.
The raids are likely to continue for the next two days.
Here are the details of the haul from the raids at Rao's house:
1. Rs. 30 lakh cash in new currency.
2. 5 kg of gold including 2 kg of gold bars. The highest value of which is Rs 1,42,29,945.
3. Documents indicating undisclosed assets worth Rs 5 crore.
