A local court on Thursday issued summons to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on a fresh complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleging non-compliance of its summons in connection with its money laundering probe in the Delhi excise policy case.

Taking stock of ED's fresh complaint, the court has asked the AAP chief to appear in person before the court on March 16. The federal agency filed a fresh complaint against Kejriwal on March 6 contending that he was summoned a number of times to appear but he has refused to comply with the summons issued by the agency under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The fresh complaint was filed after the AAP chief refused to appear before the ED on March 4 for the eighth time. He was first summoned on November 2, 2023. Kejriwal had termed the ED's summons as "illegal" and "politically motivated".

It might be mentioned here that the ED had previously filed a complaint on February 3. Taking note of that complaint, a local court had issued summons to the AAP chief, asking him to appear before it on February 17 in the Delhi excise policy case.
