Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually inaugurates the 56-km Kailaras–Sabalgarh–Birpur section of the Gwalior–Sheopurkalan rail project in Madhya Pradesh, marking another step towards restoring broad-gauge connectivity in the Chambal region. The section is expected to benefit more than 100 villages and improve access to Gwalior and surrounding areas. The broader Gwalior–Sheopurkalan gauge-conversion project is part of a 187.53-km corridor. The Birpur–Seroni Road and Seroni Road–Sheopurkalan sections are reportedly around 95% complete, with the full Gwalior–Sheopurkalan connection targeted in the coming months.
