The prime minister handed over completed houses under both the Urban and Rural segments of the PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana) to the beneficiaries of the State, in Gujarat's Ahmedabad. He also sanctioned more than 30,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin and released the first instalment for these houses, as well as launch construction of houses under the PMAY Scheme.
"1000s of families of Gujarat are entering their new homes. 1000s of families are getting their first pucca houses. Navaratri, Dussera, Dhanteras, Diwali will be celebrated in new house," said Modi.
Earlier today, he inaugurated the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail connecting Ahmedabad with Bhuj in Gujarat. Modi said that the Vende Metro is a milestone in urban connectivity.
Modi also launched the Single Window IT System (SWITS) for the International Financial Services Centres Authority, in Gujarat's Ahmedabad.
Addressing a public rally, Modi said that the state of Gujarat has several opportunities, adding the it was one of the best connected states in the country. He further said that India's first indigenous passenger aircraft would be made in Gujarat.
"Several foreign universities will also be opened in Gujarat," said Modi, adding that the state had potential from "culture to agriculture". He called for Gujarat manufacturers to produce good quality products so that it could be exported.
The prime minister said that some people wanted to break the nation, but 140 crore Indians had to fight against them to help the country progress.
