PM Narendra Modi will issue sanction letters to a million beneficiaries of the rural housing scheme on September 17 and digitally transfer ₹ 3,180 crore as the first instalment for the construction of the houses, rural development and agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Friday.

At a ceremony in Odisha on September 17, the PM will also unveil the 'Awas + 2024' app, Chouhan told media persons.

The app is designed to help in the allotment of houses to intended beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Before that, the PM will distribute sanction letters to around 20,000 beneficiaries of Jharkhand on September 15. In this financial year, 113,195 houses are planned to be built in Jharkhand under the PMAY-G and ₹187.79 crore has been released for the purpose.

On September 16, the PM will visit Gujarat where more than 650,000 houses have been constructed under the scheme over the past ten years, Chouhan said. Under the scheme, 54,135 houses are to be built in the state in this fiscal, for which ₹99.1 crore has been released.
