NTA shake-up after UGC-NET errors: Joshi reviews reforms; 50+ staff removed, 10 new leadership posts

The National Testing Agency is undergoing a major overhaul after repeated exam-related controversies. More than 50 NTA staff members have been removed, while 10 new professional leadership positions including CTO, CFO, CISO and heads for test security and psychometrics are being filled. Private-sector specialists will also be brought in for cybersecurity, question-paper design and other specialised areas. The Education Ministry has directed a complete audit and overhaul of confidential exam operations and security protocols. The move comes amid SFI and NSUI protests in Delhi and follows the NTA’s decision to conduct fresh UGC-NET exams for three subjects
