NDA united, will win more than 200 seats: Nitish Kumar

NEW DELHI: Addressing a party gathering in Patna on Sunday, Bihar chief minister and JDU president Nitish Kumar said NDA is united and will win more than 200 of the 243 seats in upcoming Bihar assembly elections.

Clearing all confusion created after his meeting with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Kumar said: ‘NDA is united and JDU will contest next elections with BJP and other alliance partners.”

Nitish also urged party workers to take a resolve to make NDA win more than 200 seats. Talking about NPR, Nitish said that it will happen on the 2010 format and the state assembly has already passed a resolution on the same.


In the backdrop of Delhi riots, Nitish also tried to address the concerns of minorities of the state. “RJD and Congress only took votes of minorities but we worked for them,” he said. He also criticised RJD and Congress for Bhagalpur riots of 1989 and said that his government ensured justice to all the victims of the riot.

Kumar has been reaching out to the minority community, especially, after the party supported CAA in both Houses of Parliament. Post Delhi violence, his party also objected to provocative speeches by BJP leaders, including Kapil Mishra, and demanded action against them. Nitish, who turned 69 on Sunday, received birthday greetings from PM Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav too.
