'Mayawati holding review meetings with eye on 2012 elections'
SP and BJP lashed out at Mayawati accusing her of attempting to fool the people of UP by holding review meetings with an eye on next year's Assembly elections.
SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said with the Assembly elections scheduled for next year, the ruling BSP government's meetings to review the situation in the state have become more frequent.
Referring to such a meeting held here yesterday in which Mayawati directed officials to keep an eye on local problems to ensure peace and order, he said in a statement, "This is just a gimmick to show that she is most concerned about the state of affairs."
"The people have, however seen through her designs. It would have been better if she told the people about the outcome of all such meetings that she held in the past four years and how they helped improve the situation," Chaudhary said.
BJP spokesman Manoj Misra, in a statement issued here, cited various criminal incidents that have taken place in the state in the past four years of BSP rule in which the party's leaders and workers have been named.
"They have exposed the real face of the BSP government and no amount of meetings would now be able to befool the people of the state," he said.
