After the derailment of Howrah-Mumbai Mail in Jharkhand, some members of Lok Sabha expressed concern over the increasing incidents of train accidents and demanded that minister Ashwini Vaishnav come to the House and make a statement.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Trinamool floor leader Sudhip Bandyopadhyay said: "I received information from my chief minister in the morning that...train No. 12810 had derailed... I am keen to know the latest position from the honourable railway minister." He said: "Why is the railway minister not coming to the House and giving an explanation?" SP's Akhilesh Yadav said, "Ever since this government was formed, there has been a competition between train accidents and paper leaks".
