Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah most corrupt: Amit Shah

Bengaluru: With 16 months to go for polls in Karnataka, BJP national president Amit Shah launched a frontal attack on the last powerful Congress CM, Siddaramaiah, by calling him and his party rule the ‘most corrupt in Bharat.’

Addressing a big gathering of Other Backward Castes, considered Siddaramaiah’s vote-bank, in Bengaluru on Sunday, Shah said: “Your CM fears the most when issues of black money are raised because the most corrupt government is in Karnataka. Please get rid of it.”

Almost the entire narrative of the rally was Siddaramaiah as the leaders made an all-out effort to prise away his image as the posterboy of the Ahinda (Kannada acronym for minorities, backward classes and Dalits).


Siddaramaiah rode to power in Karnataka in 2013 on the back of the support of the Ahinda. Since then, the Siddaramaiah government is often mocked by the Opposition and by the forward communities as an “Ahinda” government.

The BJP leaders, on Sunday, however, said Siddaramaiah had not done as much as they had for the OBC. Former CM and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said: “I challenge Siddaramaiah to come out with a list of what he has done for the backward castes. I have a list of the programmes I brought in when I was deputy CM and CM as well as those implemented by my successors Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar.”
