Karnataka: Bellad urges Industries Minister Patil to get M&M plant to Dharwad

Bellad, who represents Dharwad West in the Assembly, said North Karnataka already has a proven automobile manufacturing ecosystem. “Dharwad hosts Tata Motors, Tata Hitachi, and Tata Marcopolo plants. Tata bus chassis are manufactured here, and complete Marcopolo buses are built and efficiently transported via NH48 and rail. The infrastructure, logistics, and skilled workforce are already in place,” he said in a post on X.
The senior BJP leader urged Patil to recognise this strategic advantage of Dharwad and ensure Karnataka does not miss this opportunity. “Investing further in Dharwad and the wider North Karnataka region will not only deepen the auto manufacturing value chain but also generate large scale employment, MSME growth, and balanced regional development,” he said.
If the ruling Congress was serious about industrial decentralisation and strengthening its manufacturing base, North Karnataka should be the first choice, not an afterthought. “This is the moment to back existing strengths and build a globally competitive automobile hub in Dharwad,” Bellad said.
