The CPM has termed the Centre's Ordinance, which gave over-arching powers to the Delhi lieutenant-governor in service matters, as unconstitutional and extended support to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in opposing it in Parliament.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal met CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday and sought his party's support to defeat the Bill replacing the Ordinance in the Rajya Sabha, where a united Opposition could force a close vote. The Left party also appealed to the Congress to support the Opposition to defeat the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
