Investment worth Rs 15,925 Crore in pipeline in Assam: CM Sarbananda Sonowal

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that investment proposal to the tune of Rs 15, 925 Crore are in pipeline.

Chairing a meeting of Industries and Commerce Department to assess quantum of investment in the state post Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit held in 2017, Sonowal asked the department to woo investors. According to state government investment worth Rs. 57,437 crore have already taken shape in different sectors.

Sonowal also inquired about the investments that have gone for commercial production. In the manufacturing sector the companies like Patanjali, Dabur India Limited, Emami, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Britannia and others started their commercial production in the state.


According to state government, in pharmaceutical sector production activities of the companies like Sun Pharma, Pure and Cure, Ajanta Pharma and others have already have started.

Sonowal also asked Industries and Commerce Department to take up Business Reforms Action Plan for the improvement of Ease of Doing Business in the state.

Chief Minister Sonowal also took stock of the implementation of National Bamboo Mission in Assam. He asked Industries and Commerce Department and Mission Director to aggressively pursue different components of the mission like propagation and cultivation, product development and processing, promotion and development of infrastructure for bamboo market and skill development and awareness campaign.
