NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadm Party on Monday said “intolerance“ was the Modi government's real agenda and de spite rejection by people in Delhi and Bihar, the party continued to make it the “cen tre-piece“ of its politica strategy. In a resolution passed in the National Coun cil meeting, the party said the BJP-led NDA had proved jus as “terrible“ as the UPA.

In a meeting marred by protests from about 40 sus pended members, the Delhi based party also resolved to take the political fight to Pun jab even as it slammed the Centre for diluting the feder al structure and under mining state governments.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal ruled out fighting the 2019 general elections and underlined the focus on governance in Delhi. The meeting was the first one after the ouster of leaders like Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Ajit Jha and Anand Kumar.

“Politically, the BJP has stayed true to its past and gone on to try and tear the social fabric that delicately binds Indian society . The real agenda of the BJP is intolerance and the purpose is dividing society for political gains. This manufactured intolerance has been rejected by the people of India, first in Delhi and then in Bihar. But BJP's continued attempts to make it the centre-piece of its political strategy is a grave threat to the idea of India,'' the resolution said. The statement is in line with Arvind Kejriwal's recent aligning with non-NDA, non-UPA political parties like TMC and JD(U).

“We resolve to politically oppose all corrupt and communal forces which in our view are the primary danger to Indian society ,“ the resolution said.

Addressing around 250 founding members whose term was extended for another three years, Kejriwal said, “We are not here for power politics. People ask if AAP is in the race for 2019? We are not in any race. Delhi's win was miraculous. We just have to keep working hard and honestly. Don't run after elections. All indications are that you are going to get the same opportunity in Punjab.'' He also elaborated on the work done by the Delhi government, saying it was more than any other government, whether the Congress one led by Sheila Dikshit or the Modi government at the Centre.

The other resolution supported the federal structure of the nation while slamming the Centre for undermining the powers of the states.“Since the advent of the present NDA government, state governments are being undermined at the behest of the central government. Instead of cooperative federalism, the country is witnessing selective targeting of non-NDA state governments through the offices of governors and lieutenant governors. We resolve to build public opinion and politically oppose the NDA government's totalitarian attitude towards nonNDA state governments.'' The party also resolved to fight the Punjab polls and deepen political expansion.

The Aam Aadmi Party also resolved that a new national executive would be elected before May 15, giving the present members a six-month extension.
