West Bengal CM promised that she will provide pipeline water to every household across the state by 2024.

Industry and employment is now West Bengal government’s main focus after women’s empowerment, farmer’s development and social schemes, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, during her campaign for Kolkata.

“We have done work for common people, farmers and women. Now, my focus is on industry. The West Bengal government has built a Silicon Valley-like IT park in Rajarhat. Several IT biggies have invested in the IT Park. Tata group also has its presence there,” Mamata Banerjee said.

Lauding the UNESCO for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed BJP’s central leaders, who had come to Bengal and criticised Mamata Banerjee government over the Durga Puja issue during assembly poll campaigns.

“The central leaders had mocked me saying ‘Mamata Banerjee does not allow Durga Puja in Bengal. Now, Durga Puja has received a heritage tag. I am overwhelmed and moved. First, Bengal received recognition from UNESCO for Kanyasree and now it is for Durga Puja. Durga Puja is very close to the hearts of the Bengalis,” Mamata Banerjee said.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) inscribed Kolkata’s Durga Puja on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on Wednesday, which is the first time in Asia, giving the Bengalis and Indians a reason to rejoice.

With a picture of Durga idol, UNESCO took to Twitter and wrote, “Durga puja in Kolkata has just been inscribed on the intangible heritage list. Congratulations India.”
