The Hindi heartland states of UP, MP, Rajasthan and Bihar, which tend to generate the most news on unemployment and lack of jobs, are eagerly looking at investor summits to fill the gap.

For the first time, Bihar, which is known for labour migration, is preparing for an investor summit later this year. The state's industries minister, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, recently organised an investor's meet in Delhi, where several industry houses, including Adani Group, HUL, Lulu Group and ITC, participated. Hussain said he will hold a similar roadshow in Mumbai and attend two invitations from industry chambers in Surat and Kolkata.

In neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government had organised the state's first investor summit in 2018. The state is now preparing for a global investor summit in July, hoping to attract ₹10 lakh crore worth of investments.

In MP and Rajasthan, which are headed for polls next year, investor summits like this are being planned to present a picture of development and better job opportunities for the youth.

The MP government has announced its plan to hold a global investor summit in Indore from November 4 to 6 this year. It was earlier planned for February, but had to be cancelled due to the rise in Covid cases. Before this, the Congress government in 2019 had organised an investor summit in Indore. The current chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is also planning to visit other countries to participate in roadshows ahead of the summit.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan has planned to hold an investor summit, 'Invest-Rajasthan 2022' on October 7 and 8 this year. The state government had planned the summit in January but it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
