Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday hit back at Arvind Kejriwal, saying Lachit Barphukan did not provide any hospitality to Aurangzeb when he visited the north eastern state.

Legendary Ahom general Lachit Borphukan is known for his leadership in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat where Mughals were defeated.

Kejriwal, while addressing party workers in Guwahati, invited Sarma to New Delhi, to join him for a cup of tea and lunch, while saying that the threats by his Assam counterpart were unbecoming of a chief minister.

"Why is Himanta Biswa Sarma threatening me that if I come to Assam, I will be put behind bars? I urge Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to learn about the Assamese tradition and culture properly," he said.

Himanta in a series of tweets stated, “With Kejriwal, we will go on a tour of Delhi, but not Lutyens and South Delhi. Will go with Kejriwal to those places where I will take, where 80% of Delhi's people live. Kejriwal has made life hell for the slum dwellers of Delhi. There are no minimum facilities”.

He added, “It was most surprising when Mr. Kejriwal claimed there is no question paper leak in Punjab. Either he is lying or he is ignorant. Few weeks back, the 12th class board exams in Punjab had to be cancelled because of a question paper leak".

He said, “ Kejriwal turned out to be a real coward. He did not raise the fabricated corruption allegations he made against me inside the Delhi Assembly in Guwahati today because his loose conscience would not permit him to get into trouble by speaking lies”.

Sarma said, “Arvind Kejriwal said that he gave 12,00,000 jobs in Delhi, but when we asked an officer of Delhi, he said that only 1,50,000 posts are sanctioned in Delhi government”.

Sarma said, “Did Lachit Barphukan provide any hospitality to Aurangzeb? So what kind of hospitality was Arvind Kejriwal expecting in Assam?”

Recently, Sarma threatened to sue Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal if he makes corruption allegations against him outside the assembly.

Sarma dared Kejriwal to make corruption allegation against him outside the assembly, he asked Kejriwal to make one such allegation during his proposed visit to Assam and he threatened to sue him like he did to his former cabinet colleague Manish Sisodia

Kejriwal in Delhi Assembly had said that there are cases against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in other States.

Kejriwal said, "Seeing the energy of the people of Assam, it seems as if Himanta Babu's government will be uprooted today itself."

The Delhi chief minister said, “I will take Sarma in my own car and show the schools, neighbourhood clinics. There is acute unemployment in Assam. They cannot even handle a board exam, paper leaks happen, how will they run the government."

He promised jobs for all unemployed youths of Assam if AAP is voted to power, adding that the party has given employment to 12 lakh people in Delhi in seven years, and 28,000 people in one year in Punjab.

Kejriwal also assured of providing piped water to all households of Guwahati within a year of the AAP government in the state.
