Haryana Assembly Elections: Polls to be held in a single phase on Oct 1, results on Oct 4
Haryana Assembly Elections will be held on October 1 and the results will be announced on October 4, the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Friday. The state will have 2.01 crore voters with 4.52 lakh new voters having registered. It will have 20,629 polling stations in 10,495 locations. There will be 7,132 stations in urban areas and 13,497 in rural areas. Average voters per station would be around 977 people. Kumar also announced that polling stations will be set in high-rise societies in urban regions to increase the voter turnout.


Haryana Assembly Election 2019

In 2019, BJP emerged as the single largest party with 40 seats in the 90-seat Assembly. Unable to cross the majority mark of 46, it formed a post-poll alliance with Jananayak Janata Party, which had won 10 seats, and independent candidates. Congress had won 31 seats, an increase of 16 from the 2014 election.

Manohar Lal Khattar took oath as the Chief Minister of the state in 2019. However, the alliance between BJP and JJP broke prior to the Lok Sabha election in March this year. Khattar resigned from the position on March 12 and BJP’s Nayab Singh Saini was chosen as the new leader on the same day and took charge after winning a trust vote.



Khattar also resigned as the MLA of Karnal seat. Khattar was the chief minister of Haryana for nine-and-half years. He was selected as the leader in 2014. He took part in the Lok Sabha elections. He is currently Minister of Power and Minister of Urban Affairs in the cabinet.

In the Lok Sabha election, Haryana voted for 10 seats where BJP and Congress shared five each.
