The state will have a total of 2.01 crore voters, including 4.52 lakh newly registered voters. It will feature 20,629 polling stations across 10,495 locations, with 7,132 stations in urban areas and 13,497 in rural areas. On average, each polling station will serve approximately 977 voters.
Electoral rolls for Haryana are expected to be finalised on August 27.
Gurugram Assembly Elections 2024: Constituencies, candidates, key parties
Out of the 90 seats that go up for grabs in the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana, Gurgaon district holds four. These seats are - Pataudi (SC), Badshahpur, Gurgaon, Sohna.Three of the seats are currently represented by Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs, while one is held by an independent candidate. Their term will be ending on November 3 of this year.
The key parties that will be contesting the elections are the BJP, the Indian National Congress (INC), the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party (SP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).
Gurgaon Assembly Elections 2019 Result:
In the previous assembly elections in Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party became the largest party and formed the government after initiating a post-poll alliance with the Jannayak Janta Party and seven other Independent MLAs.In 2019, the BJP had secured 37.6 percent votes, while independents came in second with 22.2 percent votes, and Congress in third with 21. 3 percent. The JJP and BSP stood fourth and fifth with 11.2 percent and 4.4 percent votes each.
However, in February 2024, the BJP ended its four-and-a-half year alliance with the JJP as Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his Cabinet resigned. BJP state president and Kurukshetra MP Nayab Singh Saini was then appointed as the chief minister, who continues to hold office.
