BJP announced a detailed schedule for the same on Thursday late afternoon stating that the filing of nominations will be carried out on Friday and the scrutiny of the same too shall be carried out on the same day. The voting process will be carried out and the results will be declared on Saturday.
Party sources indicated that the next President will be most likely be from the OBC community as the party already has a Patidar Chief Minister. It is expected that the next state president would be picked up from restive Saurashtra region or North Gujarat as incumbent President CR Patil has represented South Gujarat for almost five years.
The election of a new president which has been overdue in the state for almost a year now comes at a crucial time with internal feuds in the party have started surfacing in the state with regularity on one hand and on the other the state is set for Panchayat election early next year, which is considered a barometer for the assembly polls.
Incumbent state president CR Patil who has been the architect of BJP's largest victory in Assembly election ever in 2022 has been vocal about his desire to relinquish charges ever since he was inducted into the Union Cabinet. BJP veterans had already voiced their concerns albeit off the record about Patil's inability to devote enough attention towards the state unit.
