Demonetisation will help achieve 'clean society': Devendra Fadnavis

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said demonetisation will help achieve the aim of a " swachh samaj", which is as much required as a "swachh bharat".

"Like Swachh Bharat, we also need Swachh Samaj (clean society) and demonetisation will help us achieve this aim too," Fadnavis said while addressing the ICICI Bank Swachh Society Awards here.

The chief minister appealed to all housing societies to take a lead so that each becomes an ambassador for 'Swachh Bharat' and sought greater public participation in the initiative.

Vijaynagar cooperative housing society, Anand Kores Towers cooperative housing society, Ashok Towers and Sealine cooperative society won the awards on the basis of cleanliness, waste management, energy conservation, water resource management and safety.
