After a 70-day long break, Delhi at last chosen a new mayor, and Shelly Oberoi of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the election. Rekha Gupta of the BJP lost to her by 34 votes. She received 150 votes overall out of 266 cast. The Civic Center hosted the mayoral elections.

Shelly Oberoi
She was elected councillor from Ward 86 in the municipal elections; she was born in Delhi. She received her PhD from the School of Management Studies at IGNOU. She has worked as an assistant professor at a number of prestigious institutions.

Ideology of Aam Aadmi Party
In 2013, she joined as an activist. Two years ago, she was elected as the Delhi State Vice President of the women's wing of the Aam Aadmi Party.
