Supreme Court stays bail for Unnao Rape convict Kuldeep Sengar
New Delhi: Congress has welcomed Supreme Court orders issued on Monday - one staying the Delhi HC's suspension of acquittal of the Unnao rape case convict, and the other staying the top court's earlier order accepting a 100-metre height definition of the Aravalli hills.

Welcoming the stay on acquittal of Unnao rape convict Kuldeep Sengar, Mahila Congress leader Alka Lamba said it was the victory of justice. She alleged the CBI had presented "a weak case" before HC as part of attempts to protect the convict.

Congress spokesman Jairam Ramesh, meanwhile, demanded Union environment minister's resignation while hailing the apex court staying its earlier order on the height definition of the Aravalli hills. "The Modi government attempted to change the definition of the Aravallis, which is a highly sensitive ecological region... We also seek the resignation of environment minister Bhupender Yadav, who consistently defended the new definition of Aravallis, a move opposed by all," he added.
