Chennai bans delivery of cooked food

Bengaluru: Online platforms including Zomato and Swiggy have been disallowed from delivering cooked food in Chennai according to a tweet on Thursday by the civic administrator of the southern city that has so far reported 27 cases of Covid-19 Infections.

“Only cooked food supply from Swiggy and Zomato are not allowed,” tweeted Greater Chennai Corporation, a civic body that governs the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

Kitchen operators and delivery aggregators who spoke to ET said more states are placing restrictions on their services during the 21-day lockdown despite the Union government’s guidelines categorising food delivery under essential services.


Some Of the top cities affected include Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Dehradun, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Indore, Chennai and Coimbatore.
