CBI quizzes Sunil Bhuta of NuPower

NEW DELHI: The CBI on Wednesday quizzed Sunil Bhuta, CFO and head of corporate finance of NuPower Renewables Private Limited (NRPL).

Deepak Kochhar, husband of Chanda Kochhar, CEO of ICICI Bank, is founder of NRPL.

Bhuta was examined by the agency in connection with its preliminary enquiry (PE). CBI is continuing its enquiry, lodged over two months ago, into the alleged nexus between Deepak Kochhar and Venugopal Dhoot. The agency is also examining whether Avista benefitted from Rajiv Kochhar’s relation with the ICICI Bank boss. Sources indicated that Deepak Kochhar and Dhoot may be called for questioning as well. After the examination of documents and recording of statements, Chanda Kochhar may also be quizzed, they said.


CBI is examining respondents involved in the ICICI Bank case as part of its preliminary investigations before registering any FIR.
