The BJP spent the most on Google advertisements last year when nine states held legislative polls.

Google Ad Transparency data shows the BJP spent around ₹19 cr in 2023.This included advertisements during assembly elections and also on ads highlighting the achievement of the Modi government through the year. These are Youtube ads .

This year's Lok Sabha elections will raise spending exponentially. The BJP spent ₹17 cr on Google Ads in the 2019 LS election.


The spent last year was primarily for assembly elections. For the high-stakes Karnataka assembly polls, the party spent ₹7.2 cr on Google ads. The elections went against the party.

In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, the BJP spent 7.71 cr on Google Ads.

The KCR-led BRS stood second with an ad spend of ₹12.1 cr for Telangana assembly elections. The Congress spent Rs 4.59 crores on Google Ads and almost all of it was spent during the Karnataka election.

In MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, Congress spent a paltry sum on Google Ads.
