BJP voters and leaders in certain constituencies are unhappy with the candidates being put up by the JDU and others, even as campaigning for the first phase of polling for 71 assembly seats ends on Monday.
For the past two days, district-level BJP leaders have been talking to local leaders and the voters in order to convince them to vote for the NDA. The focus is especially on seats where the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has put up candidates.
On seats like Dinara, Jehanabad, Kurtha, Brahmpur, Sasaram and Paliganj, the BJP has got in touch with local leadership in order to ensure the victory for the JDU candidates. Former MLAs and important party leaders in such constituencies are being contacted by the leadership and building up support for the NDA.
“We are working hard to convince the people on the instructions of senior state leadership,” said Pankaj Kumar, a local BJP leader in Paliganj. He has started campaigning for JDU candidate Jaivardhan Yadav.
BJP leaders said this has been the party strategy for a long time. “We always work on our core voters in the last week and resolve their issues before elections,” a senior state BJP leader told ET.

The party has introduced Smriti Irani, Ravi Kishan and others in the last two days of the campaigning.
