Bangalore South: Growth skyrockets but civic amenities lag
The constituency has an incumbent BJP MLA M Krishnappa, who has been credited for his work with lake revival. Civic development, however, has been uneven across the eight wards.

Residents, for instance, say that the city corporation has not been serious about sanitation. “BBMP officials take ownership of vacant sites and some of them have been turned into garbage dumps. Citizens often contribute money from their own pockets to clear waste off the streets,” said GV Hebbar, a senior citizen who is the president of the RBI Layout Welfare Association in the Konanakunte ward. “We keep writing letters to officials or try to reach them with problems but nothing gets addressed.”

People talk about dealing with at least three power cuts of short duration through the day and the need to make streets safer and equip them with functional CCTVs. A resident of Yelachenahalli said, “The metro station is a boon but last-mile connectivity has to be improved. This is because there is poor bus frequency from the metro and the autos charge people arbitrarily.”
