Assam to get Rs 4,781 crore investment from 27 companies: Chandra Mohan Patwary, industry minister

GUWAHATI: Assam industry minister, Chandra Mohan Patwary on Wednesday said Assam is likely to get Rs. 4,781 crore investment with 27 companies evincing interest in Assam.

Patowary held an interactive session with various investors. Patwary assured the investors of full support, discuss their issues and address the problems and dispel doubts and uncertainties.

Around 27 companies including Asian Paints, Ajanta Pharma, Sun Pharma, Britannia Industries, Berger Paints, Dabur India, Emami, Hindustan Unilever, Havells, Asian Brahmaputra Hospital & Healthcare, Abdos Lamitubes Pvt. Ltd participated in the meeting.

Patowary said that he is happy that despite misgivings regarding the state, investors are keen to invest in Assam. ‘So, we treat you all as our guests, not as industrialists. Thus, it is our duty to extend all help and assistance for promotion of industrial growth in the state”.

The meet also discussed issues relating to power availability, law and order, North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP), 2007, land registration and ‘mega status’ of projects.

Patowary added that the atmosphere is congenial for investment and called upon the investors to generate employment for the unemployed youth of the state.

He said that Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, in a recent communique stated that the Centre is formulating a new policy for the North-East. The Minister stated that the new state industrial policy, under GST, would give a further boost to investment.
