AAPSU demands suspension of examinations during poll

Referring to the recent incident along Assam-Arunachal boundary, the union has demanded adequate deployment of forces along the inter-state frontier.

ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union ( AAPSU) has appealed to the Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharna to make sure that no examination is conducted from April 6 to 12 next so that college students of the state may participate in the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

In a memorandum submitted yesterday, AAPSU further appealed to the Governor to impose special power conferred upon him under Article 371 (H) of the Constitution at an early date as the people have been facing numerous hardship due to the sudden dissolution of the state Assembly.

Referring to the recent incident along Assam-Arunachal boundary, the union has demanded adequate deployment of forces along the inter-state frontier.

It has also urged the governor to restore normalcy in the state while stating that "starting from Sela Pass to Patkai Hills and from Subansiri to Siang basin the people are living in fear psychosis due to the deteriorating law and order".

AAPSU President Kamta Lapung in a statement today said that the union would compel to go for "no solution no election" if the Governor failed to comply with its demands.
