Close to three-fifths of the winning candidates in the five state assembly elections held late year spent less than half the amount allowed by the Election Commission as poll expense, according to an analysis by Association for Democratic Reforms.

Among chief ministers, Vasundhara Raje declared the highest expenditure of Rs 10.61 lakh and Arvind Kejriwal the lowest at Rs 3.99 lakh. As many as 210 MLAs declared zero expenditure on campaigning through electronic and print media. Here’s more.
